Ruth LaGue grew up in Alaska, awed and inspired by the incredible vastness of the wild landscape. Gazing at the expansive skies and majestic mountains as a girl, Ruth recognized that she was a small part of something much larger than herself.
In her work, Ruth focuses on landscapes creating the contrast of colors and textures as they define spaces, shapes, and boarders. Her style strives for visual economy and simplicity – landscape in its barest form. She’ll often work on 10-20 sketches before moving on to a larger canvas, making sure she has truly gotten to the heart of what she wishes to communicate.
Ruth received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her work can be found in numerous private and corporate collections and on permanent exhibit at the Encaustic Art Institute in Santa Fe, NM.
